Johanina, thanks for reading and commenting! I'll get back to Mexico sometime in 2025, but I'm not sure when. It'll be great to see you when I do. What a year, eh? Love to you, too.

Dear Holly, you've been so kind to me in the past, through our MS relationship and my house-sit for you. So I know you are a good-hearted person. May I gently suggest that while the mind might be the alpha, it's not the omega. This post is all about "monkey mind," which is not a desirable state. It keeps us in denial. I think you're looking for meaning in your life, thus the sale of your home and the traveling, but so far I don't see you asking any "big" questions in these substack posts. Please consider learning Buddhist meditation, either Zen or Tibetan Buddhist. Over the centuries, these Buddhist monks and nuns learned a heck of a lot about how the mind works and how to get beyond "monkey mind." They discovered stuff that our western culture doesn't have a clue about. (But stay away from "mindfulness" training. It's a cheat designed to keep people "productive" in the corporate world.) Offering these thoughts in care.

Ramona, I'm back from more travels and starting to catch up here. Thank you for your comment! My monkey mind is exactly what I was describing in that post. I'd never consider the mind both the alpha and the omega. I was trying to convey that during that particular week my wild mind monkeys served a purpose. As long as I don't forget who I AM and mistake them for me, they can be useful. I do conflate them with me sometimes, but not as often or for as long as I used to. I partly credit meditation for that.

I'm very much a work in progress. As for the meaning of life, it took a while (60 something years!) for me to become comfortable with my own, because my thought processes kept muddling each discovery. My journey now isn't about the search for meaning. It's about expressing it, preferably in ways that inspire others to express their uniqueness, too.

It's good to hear from you in these remarkable times!

What a journey. I loved the part about moving out through the layers of your thought AND not wanting to lose connection with your humanness. This is HUGE for me right now.

Marc, I'm sorry to be so slow to respond. Traveling in December unplugged me for a while and I'm just catching up. I'm glad this post clicked for you. How's it going now that we're in 2025? We're all in this wild rumpus together. What a ride!
